Resumé The diploma thesis is dedicated to the forms of the Czech underground scene on the basis of the analysis of two samizdat literary journals - Vokno (1979-1989) and Revolver Revue (1985-1989). The thesis studies analogous and distinct tendencies in both magazines which became the platforms of the different underground generations. Vokno is connected with the first underground generation that was formed at the beginning of the 1970s. The second underground generation debuted at beginning of the 1980s and later united around the Revolver Revue magazine. The next part of the diploma thesis focuses on the symptomatic features of the poetics of four central writers that shaped the appearance of the journals. The analysis arises from the texts published in both Vokno and Revolver Revue magazines.

First of all, the author briefly introduces some of the most fundamental moments in the lives of both poets and also the circumstances they were facing as political prisoners during the period od 50's and 80's in the communist Czechoslovakia. The main part of the thesis primarily analyses those poems of Jan Zahradníček and Ivan M. Jirous, that were written while both authors were persecuted and jailed by the regime. The aim of this thesis is to characterize and compare those motifs and topics in the prison poetry collections, that are common for both poets, due to similar circumstances, that determined their lives. Nevetherless, the main topic basically connecting all of them discusses poets' relationship with God in the context of personal crisis. The author will concentrate especially on the revealing and interpretating those spiritual moments, that can be understood as a reflection of Jirous's and Zahradníček's personal spiritual experience.

The bachelor thesis is focused on the life of significant native of Humpolec Ivan Martin Jirous. The author finds him as the leading figure of specific period of the Czech underground. This thesis is mainly based on the interviews with his close friends and immediate family. As the method was chosen the technique of oral history. The author is dealing with Jirous´ way of resistance towards "normalization regime" in the sense of defence of values like freedom, independence and democracy
Visions and Beliefs of Three Generations of the Czech Avant-garde (1919-1989)

Aim of this work is to make a comparison of three generations (1918 - 1989) of discourse art theorists and to point to their similarity. Specifically, the main personalities and spokespersons of Czech avant-garde art and underground, who are Karel Teige, Vladimír Boudník, Egon Bondy, Milan Knížák and Ivan Martin Jirous. This work analyses the content the interpretive models which are contained in the manifestos and manifestations text (Chapter 2) and reconstruction experience and feeling of historical avant-gards based on work with ego-documents (Chapter 3). The result of this analysis is a description of the differences (and dynamics) of development of avant-garde, but especially characteristic of avant-garde and underground mental world. The analysis shows that the artistic avant-garde (Teige) and underground (Jirous, Knížák), as well as the second generation standing on the edge of the avant-garde and underground (Boudník, Bondy) show great similarity with many common features. Individual features common to the avant-garde and underground are summarized in the conclusion. The comparing of the media image of Ivan Martin Jirous before and after the year 1989

This diploma thesis is about the media representation of Ivan Martin Jirous - a famous poet, essayist, art critic and the theorist of the czech underground. Ivan Martin Jirous, nicknamed Magor, is especially famous for the fact that he closely worked with the rock band The Plastic People of the Universe, which was at the time of normalization in opposition to communist political party, and therefore its members were persecuted and imprisoned. On the other hand after the year 1989 he became important dissident and the poet. His life changes affect into his media image, which is the subject of this diploma thesis. The main aim of this thesis is to point the life of Ivan Martin Jirous on a personal, journalistic and artistic level based on the study the professional sources and literature. But also obtain a comprehensive historical and media analysis of media texts about Ivan Martin Jirous. The thesis is divided into four main chapters. The first chapter, which follows after the introduction, has descriptive character, and focuses on the person of Ivan Martin Jirous. It offers a brief overview of his life, his family, studies and jobs. The second one describes his publications and his other cultural activities. To the Christian Stream in the Czech Literary Underground: Literary Works of Ivan Martin Jirous The thesis deals with the introduction of the Christian stream in the Czech literary underground, focusing on the personality and work of Ivan Martin Jirous. The paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter describes the political and social situation in Czechoslovakia between 1948 and 1989. The second chapter defines the concepts of the underground and briefly introduces the authors classified in the Christian stream of the Czech literary underground. The third part aims at the personality of Ivan Martin Jirous, his life and his conception of faith. The fourth and fifth chapters focus on the analysis of literary works of Ivan Martin Jirous. Therefore, based on the analysis of selected works of Ivan Martin Jirous, this thesis attempts to present the Czech underground of the 70s and 80s of the 20th century, especially its Christian stream in literary works.
"We used to have underground but now we have crap" or Czech underground culture before and after 1990

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of Czech underground culture in 80ies and 90ies. It submits the explanation of the term underground, then its periodization and political and social context. There are introduced three monographies of writers which were chosen, Egon Bondy, Ivan Martin Jirous and Jáchym Topol. The main attention is especially paid to these three authors. The meaning of this diploma thesis in all cases is to compare one book which was written before the velvet revolution with one written after that and then highlight or refer the changes and remains in their creations.
